About the role
The GLCH Social Support program runs innovative and exciting social group sessions Monday through Friday in their fully equipped Day Centre.
Life skills, craft, light exercise, reminiscing, cooking, gardening and many other interests and hobbies are supported by highly skilled social support staff and volunteers. In addition to regular daily social groups, our clients are also offered a variety of specialised interest sessions, support groups, informative wellness focused functions and cafe style socialisation.
In this position you will work with clients to support the inclusive client led programs, allowing clients to engage and attend when suitable and fitting in around their schedules and lifestyles.
This position allows you to develop rapport with clients and develop experiences that reflect the needs of the clients. Offsite outings, walks and exercise in the community and visits to local establishments are regularly scheduled, along with monthly guest speakers and musical experiences.
Skills & Experience
A health care background or qualification in areas such as Nursing, Community Care, Diversional Therapy, Allied Health Assistance or Disabilities area is desirable, but not essential.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to and work respectfully with our client group.
